The large rectangular room is obviously a cellar, built of sandstone bricks & divided by a high supporting arch. In a series of vaulted recesses along either side of the room wine barrels have been stored. Opposite the spiral stairs in the corner is a pile of bags no doubt containing supplies for the kitchen

High in the wall small metal grills cover the ventilation shafts, through one of these a grape vine has crept and is slowly covering the arch above your head.
